   “By Facet & Scale”
“By Facet & Scale” is a photography exhibit, presented in collaboration with
LE Gallery, of recent and key pieces from David Trautrimas’s body of work.
This exhibition highlights the artist’s photo-based techniques of digitally
fabricating natural and man-made environments, as revealed, for example, in
his transformation of modern appliances into re-imagined architectural
structures and in his crafting of atmospheres reminiscent of aerial and
satellite mappings. Toronto-based Trautrimas, whose work is acclaimed both
locally and internationally, fuses his technological and artistic skills to push
the boundaries of photographic capabilities.  Ultimately, the artist provides
an alternate understanding of architecture and landscape.

Proceeds from the exhibition will be donated in part to OCAD University,
The Al Green Gallery Student Bursary, a non-repayable award given primarily
on the basis of financial need. The Ontario government through a program
called “Ontario Trust for Student Support” matches all private donations.

   “Green Spaces”
GREEN SPACES is the theme of the third annual exhibit by artists of the
Al Green Sculpture Studio. Sculpture maquettes, created by the artists to
demonstrate how their finished work will fit into a proposed site, are works of
art in their own right. The conflict between the lack of inherent limitations in
maquettes in terms of scale, material and environment, and the exigencies of
a group aesthetic has propelled these artists’ creativity in new directions.

   “Atmosphere of Uncertainty”
The Al Green Gallery is pleased to present Atmosphere of Uncertainty, the
ongoing work of encaustic painter Ron Eady.  Expansive landscapes, organic life
forms and the artist’s collection of historical oddities and antiques are his
eclectic sources of inspiration. Ron Eady engages the painting surface with
repeated applications of pigmented wax, painting, burning, dripping, scraping
and dry brushing, creating translucent layers of suggested imagery. The end
result is a brooding geography.   More about this exhibition . . .
